The Ecstatic Guitar Theorem

1. Chordal Response: energetic and lively response, crisp and clear 4.4
𝑑1 = (4.0 -n) +1 = 1.4)
2.Individual note decay as well as blended in a chord: 4.0
approx 11 sec as note ~ 11-13 sec with vibrato
𝑑2 = ( 4.0 – n) +1 = 1 )
3. Basic volume and presence: even balance and focused projection, nicely paired impedance and modal shift 4.25
𝑑3 = (4.25 – n) +1 = 1.25 )
4. Individual note separation and focus: bright and crisp articulation, airy sparkly notes with strong bass and fundamental 4.25
𝑑4 = ( 4.25 – n) +1 =1.25 )
5.Systematic sustain: approximate 9 – 10 sec 4.1
𝑑5 =( 4.1– n) +1 = 1.1 )
6. Response compliance: lively guitar with good energy 4.4
𝑑6 =(4.4 – n) +1 = 1.4)
7. Balance and quality of tone: bright, rich, strong bass presence, uplifting, hifi, responsive, fiery bass, bottom and mid balanced, shimmery and bright highs, strong bass 4.4
𝑑7 =(4.4 – n) +1 = 1.4)
8. Even strength and balance of each string: all strings and notes are pronounced and balanced, 4.4
𝑑8 = (4.4 – n) +1 = 1.4)
9. Tone projection: focused and even projection, bright presence 4.3
𝑑9 =( 4.25 – n) +1 =1.3 )
10. A large dynamic range: great dynamic range, lush harmonic decay 4.4
𝑑10 =(4.25– n) +1 =1.4)
11. Tonal bloom:the sound comes out at full volume, clear and focused 4.4
𝑑11 = (4.4 – n) +1 = 1.4)

Quality Of Tone

βˆ‘π‘‘ = (𝑑1+𝑑2+𝑑3+𝑑4+𝑑5+𝑑6+𝑑7+𝑑8+𝑑9+𝑑10+𝑑11)= 14.3
𝐏= βˆ‘ 𝐅 βˆ• T βˆ‘π…=βˆ‘π‘‘β§Ήπ€
P = 14.3 / T
𝐏= 14.3 / 22 β‰… 6.5/10 β‰… 65 %

This guitar currently outputs %65 of it’s total potential energy. This number will grow over time as the Adirondack top opens up.

βˆ‘π‘‘ = (𝑑1+𝑑2+𝑑3+𝑑4+𝑑5+𝑑6+𝑑7+𝑑8+𝑑9+𝑑10+𝑑11)=

P = / T
𝐏= 20.2/ 22 β‰… 9.2 /10 β‰… 92 %

This guitar began construction on June 15 2014 as a Gemini and was delivered May 28 2015 under the same astrological sign. A client of mine was so thrilled with his new Sahlstrom guitar that he insisted that I need to hear what Joel was capable of. The best way to gauge the talent of a young luthier is to ask them for a simple guitar with simple woods so you can really hear the quality of tone they are capable of. This mini jumbo has been played more than any other guitar in the shop over the course of the last 6 months due to one reason; tone. This guitar maintains an incredible balance worthy of master luthiers skill paired with exquisite craftsmanship and the finest quality materials around.

This guitar features many elements that have been borrowed through decades of guitar design. The body shape as well as moulds have all been designed by Joel based on previous variations of a similar design. This bevel is more of a Ryan style bevel and is very comfortable to use. The sound port on this guitar is well executed and thus the guitar still fully blooms into the sound without loosing too much tonal weight.

It seems to me that this guitar may be a male guitar. Overall flow of the lines as well as definition of cut-away resemble a more male like figure.
